A relative (Jeff) of a fellow Mensan (Marc) is interested in selling his restaurant. I thought this would be an appropriate place to forward Marc's message:

maybe some of you saw my brother on channel 5 news tonight. and he'll be on channel 9 tonight at 9. and the Tribune is doing a special on his restaurant this week. It's called Snackville Junction in Evergreen Park. It's been in business for 75 years - the last 22 with Jeff. it's a unique place - the food is delivered at the counter via choo-choo train. the kids love it.

It's just time for Jeff to retire. It's a vibrant business for sale. If you know anyone who might want to buy it (approx $300,000), let me know and I'll put you in touch with Jeff. Pass this on to any of your friends that might be interested in such a business. it did great for Jeff. Put his 2 kids through college plus much more.

    Marc

It made today's Trib too -- for a moment I was worried about it's north-suburban twin, the Choo Choo in Des Plaines.

Snackville Junction closing/Private Bank demands full pymt on balance
    Dear Snackville Junction Customers,

It is with a very heavy heart we notify you that the Perez-Rogers family has lost their struggle against foreclosure of Snackville Junction.

We have worked very hard the last seven years to continue with this beloved tradition. We’ve done everything in our power to comply with our initial agreement with the bank that financed our mortgage.

We were diligent and prompt with our monthly payments, insurance and everything else that a business owner is expected to do.

However, when the time came for a renewal of this loan, the bank demanded the entire balance.

After a year-long attempt to negotiate, there is no longer anything we can do. We are broken hearted and felt the need to communicate this very unfortunate circumstance.

We thank for your business and for allowing Snackville Junction to continue until now.
