Hi all,
I’m part of the team working to start the Museum of Food and Drink (MOFAD), a non-profit organization founded by Dave Arnold that aims to open a first-of-its-kind food museum in New York. (For more about MOFAD, check out our website at
http://www.mofad.org). Though I am a newcomer to LTH Forum, I am a former Chicagoan and thought MOFAD’s latest project might find a receptive audience here.
After two years of planning and research, MOFAD is ready to launch its first exhibit:
BOOM! The Puffing Gun and the Rise of Breakfast Cereal. This explosive exhibit features a machine called a puffing gun, which was historically used to make cereals like Quaker Puffed Wheat, Kix, and Cheerios. MOFAD has purchased one of these machines from a fabricator in Omaha, Nebraska that still makes puffing guns according to original designs from Kellogg’s. We’ve already tested the machine and designed a platform that will allow us to display the museum in public spaces around New York and beyond. However, in order for this exhibit to happen we need your urgent help.
We recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to pay for exhibit’s fabrication and operating costs. Our goal is to raise
$80,000 by July 20; we’ve raised over 50% of our goal already, but with only 9 days to go time is running out. Please check out the project video and make a tax-deductible pledge at
http://boom.mofad.org, then spread the word by visiting
http://launch.mofad.org.
This is a project fueled by passion and the efforts of a handful of dedicated individuals. To make this exhibit – and MOFAD – a reality, we need the support of the entire food community. Please take a moment to contribute to the cause and spread the word.
Thanks in advance for your assistance!
Gratefully,
Emma Boast
