I got an RDG restaurant group gift card for Christmas and it's been languishing in my purse. My choices appear to be Bar Louie, Nick & Tony's, Blue Point Oyster Bar, 1 North, The Grillroom, and Red Star Tavern (suburbs--less convenient, but I'll travel if it's preferable to the others).

What to do? Anyone have any guidance? I don't eat meat, but I do eat seafood. I've been to a few Bar Louies and they're never quite what I hope or expect. I'm not really excited about any of the choices, but I do want to make the best of my situation. Should I just spend it on drinks? For what it's worth, the card is for $50 and I'd rather not dump much more $ into a meal that is just ok.

    Thanks!

If it were me, I'd head straight to Blue Point Oyster Bar and not look back.

I have to agree with Steve. Go to the bar and grab a dozen oyesters, some chowder and a few beers and you'll be set.

RDG also has the new South City Tavern in the South Loop (State/15th) but it's definitely forgettable.
