Remembering the Chick-fil-A talk in this thread, and especially the obsessiveness of the Brown family in the Tribune article by Kevin Pang Fujisan linked to, I couldn't resist stopping at Chick-fil-A when I had the chance.

In the framework of fast food I liked Chick-fil-A, coating and flavor of the chicken sandwich reminded me of KFC's original recipe, chicken flesh was juicy and the overall effect of simply bun/chicken/pickle lent a pleasant minimalist note.

Skin-on waffle fries were tasty, if a bit limp. Polynesian sauce, which I tried just for shits and giggles, was not-good, a shock inducing sweet sticky mess. Mayo, which they have in abundance, seems the preferred accompaniment to a Chick-fil-A sandwich.

I admit, I have a special place in my heart for Chick-fil-A. I have become a little obsessed with how I eat mine though- order it either with extra pickles or no pickles and then add "Wickles" to it. If you are out east and haven't yet had wickles go to your local Harris Teeter grocery store and pick some up (Wegmans has them too). The best jarred pickle/relish ever.

I, too, have a strong fondness for the Chick-Fil-A, having grown up south of the Mason-Dixon.

I am more of a fan of the nuggets, and the breakfast chicken biscuit.

To me, the chicken itself is the best part and the bun and pickles just obscures it's fried gloriousness.

Yes, the "POlynesian" sauce is horrific. Honey Mustard is a slightly better option, I tend to prefer my nuggetry unadorned.

The waffle fries are a little hit and miss--crispness seems to vary from one location to another and depends on the time of day. They always, IMO, need salt and ketchup.

Chick-Fil-A is probably the only fast food I truly enjoy. Yes I get the occasional White Castle craving but CFA is one of my "must go to" spots when visiting my mother in NC. I know there is another member here (who also used to order Wickes by the case before you could find them in stores) that used to bring a giant cooler on his ventures south and fill it up with Chicken sandwiches.

Chick-Fil-A has been operating in Indianapolis for at least 20 years; in fact, theirs was the first waffle fry I can recall eating. The official Chick-Fil-A website identifies 5 Indianapolis-area locations, although I think it's out of date and there may be at least one more on the northside they are missing. So, those who make road trips for Chick-Fil-A could perhaps cut back on their mileage by heading down I-65.

Hey we have one in Racine but I have never been a big fan of fried chicken sandwiches, so I will leave that to you all.

Growing up in Indianapolis, Chick-Fil-A was our go-to fast food place, though it was more of a special treat. My sister and I upon every visit ordered the chicken salad sandwich on toasted wheat bread, waffle fries, and lemonade. I haven't had one in years, so I'm wondering if they've changed the recipe at all.

I believe there is also still one in Lafayette, about a half mile west of I-65. I was pleasantly surprised when I found that one back in 2003, as there was a big snow-induced pileup on 65 and I knew I had an hour to kill before it was cleaned up.

I live where Chick-Fil-A began. They are revered in the Atlanta area. I would suggest you try a grilled Chick-Fil-A sandwich. That is what I always order - healthier, and I think a bit tastier as well.

Mrs. JiLS were in Racine on Saturday; suffice to say, we didn't stop at Chick-fil-A.

Free chicken and coke for everyone! (It appears that if you go to www.freechickenandcoke.com and fill in some blanks, Chick-Fil-A will send you a coupon for free chicken and coke. Then you can drive to Racine or Bloomington to redeem it.)

There are 2 in the Quad Cities (Southpark Mall in Moline IL / Northpark Mall in Davenport IA) which are the only ones I have seen anywhere close to Chicago. Lots of good memories from trips to the mall as a kid - although they are always closed on Sundays...

When we flew through Atlanta (I think) we had CHick-fil_A and loved it-
not to mention the Sweet Tea nectar of the gods we drank to go along with it...

They just opened a few out in California... looks like they are expanding.

Hopefully they dont go the way of Krispy Kreme.

I love Chick-Fil-A! Best chicken sandwich and waffle fries ever. The lemonade is pretty good, too... although the meal tastes more complete with southern-style sweet tea.

We had Chick-Fil-A's all over in Charleston, SC, so I didn't fully appreciate how accesible it was until I moved up here (I didn't really appreciate the access to sweet tea I had down there, either, but that's a different story).

The closest one to Chicago in the one in Racine, WI, in the Regency Mall. There's also one in the St. Louis area in the St. Clair Square Mall food court. Other than that, Illinois is practically Chick-Fil-A free.

I've only been there once, but I would rate it as excellent. The chicken was moist and fresh, and the fries had just the right amount of salt on them. The lemonade was on point, too.

As for the one near St. Louis, it's been consistently lousy with the chicken being dry or cold.

Not sure on whether my experiences have been because of the time I visit though. I went to the Racine location just before noon on a monday, when nobody was around, and usually go to the St. Louis location on a saturday evening when it's really busy.

Recently while stuck in the Philadelphia airport I enjoyed a chick-fil-a sandwich when my flight got canceled and I received a food voucher. It was miles better than the "fish and chips" (yes, I'm using quotations) that I had at the TGI friday's in the airport a couple hours earlier. When my flight was canceled yet again (at 2am) I received another food voucher which I redeemed that morning for a chick-fil-a breakfast sandwich, which was the regular chicken piece served on a bisquit. This instantly became my new favorite fast food breakfast and provided me with the positive attitude I needed to deal with another day of awful travel.

There is a Chick-Fil-A in Lafayette, IN - I remember that we passed a billboard coming up I-65, and it's at exit 172. We would've stopped, but we were still very full from our late lunch at the Mug n' Bun.

My favorite "fast-food" place. The waffle fries are the best and the chicken is always good. I remember wandering through the mall with my mom and they were handing out free samples. I'd make numerous trips past - waiting for a different chicken dealer.

To each his own, I will be thrilled to have a chicken biscuit for breakfast.

I remember when McDonald's had a chicken biscuit for a while. A friend who works for McD's said it was directly in response to Chick-Fil-A.

That area of Lake-Cook Road and Waukegan is starting to really take on economic steam.
