Yeah, what's this about only one Baker's Square left? According to their website, there are still Baker's Square restaurants open in Libertyville, Gurnee, Palatine, Chicago (Harlem Ave.), Melrose Park, La Grange, Woodridge Alsip, Naperville, and Orland Park.

The original statement is true if you append “In Chicago proper”.

For whatever it matters, Baker's Square at Gurnee Mills is still open.

    Libertyville's Baker's Square is closed.

I'm not really into pie - we always had cake when I was a kid or apple pie which I never cared for. There is one pie I will order from time to time - chocolate cream pie. I never cared much for the ones at Bakers Sqaure or Omega. Hoosier Mama's is good but doesn't quite hit it out of the park as the chocolate is a little too bitter. Two that I liked a lot off the top of my head are Grand Travese Pie Co (multiple locations in Michigan and Indiana) and the old school one at Philippe The Original in Los Angeles. I don't need an Oreo crust - though I am not against it - a classic pie crust is fine.

Picked up pie from two spots for Pi(e) Day yesterday. Spinning J's Grasshopper Pie had a terrific chocolate cookie crust and the grasshopper part was only lightly minty but very creamy. Hoosier Mama's Passionfruit Meringue was fantastic and as described on their website - not as tart as lemon meringue, and their meringue is super fluffy and creamy.

    Love the passionfruit meringue.

Would also like to put in a huge plug for HM’s new “Pie-rishman”, which is a boozy chocolate cream. (I believe Bailey’s is involved.) Even better than the regular chocolate cream — just outstanding. I’m guessing that the name means it should be around for another couple of days (or else that it takes five hours to eat), but check the online menu or call. And get it to go, I guess.

First Slice has/had a Bailey's Chocolate Mint Pie for St. Patty's day. It was fantastic.
