New...Haifa Cafe and The Noodle (Vietnamese, on Wentworth)
I had such a craving for a bowl of wonton noodle soup this week that I ended up at Seven Treasures twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. The wontons aren't the best in town, but the broth is good and the noodles are cooked to order. A new Vietnamese place, The Noodle, has opened up a few doors south, at 2336 S. Wentworth. They had a good crowd and offer the usual appetizers, rice plates, vermicelli noodle bowls, pho, coffee drinks, sweets, drinks and smoothies. They were pretty busy. I did notice, however, that the side plates of table salad were skimpy compared what I see at most places around Argyle.
My next discovery is "Haifa Cafe" (soon to open) on Rob G.'s "skid row" block, the 400 block of S. Clark, between Van Buren and Congress (between Mike's wings and Sharkey's fried fish). The sign reads hot roasted turkey, gyros, chicken kebebs, shawerma, felafel, hummus, baba ghanoush, fresh juice, and smoothies. Always good to see a new options in the food challenged south loop. I'll report back when they've opened.
Is this the same folks who were previously just north of Orchestra Hall and in another loop location?
