I really like the lunch buffet at Reza's, but it might be below your requirements for service and comfort. The spread is vast, with quite a few very good choices.

yeah, starting at 11am daily (except tuesday), they have the "bistro", which is BYO and has a waitstaff. i've never been, so let me know how it is if you end up there.

how about turkish food? there's the Turkish Cuisine & Bakery at Clark and Bryn Mawr (5605 N. Clark). They Have lunch specials for about $6. I ate there several months ago and the food was wonderful. one dish we had was an appetizer, acili ezme, a spread of finely chopped vegetables with great spiceses - perfect with their fresh out of the oven bread. we licked the plate clean on that one!
I also had the adana kebab that was chopped lamb and beef, grilled crispy on the outside, and moist on the inside.

Too late to be of help today, but I recommend Svea's, the last authentic holdover (at least as far as restaurants are concerned) from when Andersonville was Swedish -- as opposed to the totally fake Ann Sather's. (Some of us may remember the real Ann Sather's on Belmont once upon a time, before it was bought out.) For real Swedish breakfast or lunch, Svea is very nice -- and inexpensive.
